Designed for first-time thrill-seekers and experienced enthusiasts alike, each book showcases 200 unmissable activities along with awe-inspiring photos, engaging first-hand accounts, and practical advice on how to get there, where to stay and what to eat along the way. Leaving that night, Fogg and a nonplussed Passepartout board a train bound for Dover and Calais to begin their journey.

I really liked the translation I read but I don’t know how it differs to the Project Gutenberg version. The book recounts three journeys around the world by three amazing individuals, and offers some suggestions for how these journeys may have impacted personally the people who took them. An unperturbed Fogg pays bail for them, and, accompanied by the widow, Aouda, they board a steamer bound for Hong Kong.David Damrosch, a Harvard specialist in comparative literature, projected himself further afield: when conference dates in Tokyo and a smattering of European venues were cancelled, he decided to circumnavigate the globe without leaving his library. She notes that dictators know well that whoever weaves the story is in charge, and her fragmented tales work against any monolithic, authoritarian narrative. The small, specific pleasures of Phelan's work—the faces of miners emerging from the darkness as they converse, the way slanting rays of sun illuminate a large interior, the expression on Bly's face as she eavesdrops on steamship sailors singing—are showcased in panels laid out in horizontal bands, reinforcing the linear, ever-onward nature of each narrative.
