Crusher ANC 2 features Skullcandy Supreme Sound with 40mm drivers that have been selected and expertly tuned to deliver full, rich sound for music, movies and podcasts.

External sounds do get blocked out, but not as effectively as I’ve experienced with other pairs of headphones. The cushions on the ears and on the headband are also a bit thin, not as dense as some more expensive options. Make no mistake, the Sony WH-1000XM4 offers a better overall audio performance for roughly the same money. They’re easy to identify without looking, since the central play/pause button is concave and the other two each have a unique protrusion to feel. The “Hey Skullcandy” function indeed does work, but you have to make sure you remember the exact phrases. This feels upgraded from the average on/off for ANC and transparency modes found on budget-oriented headphones. Sometimes it disconnect from my phone, but it won't connect again even if I try manually, have to turn these off and restart to get ity connected again. However, if you're looking for a more substantial sound experience, personalized options, haptic feedback and some of the best sounding Skullcandy's we've tried, it's certainly worth taking a look at the Crusher ANC if you feel comfortable springing for the extra cost. It delivers a competent performance – one that did pleasantly surprise me, I'll be honest – and does enough to at least warrant a listen. A dial is used for instant access to the Crusher bass presets if you press it to cycle through, or you can scroll to find the sweet spot for you.

Mick Gordon’s SkullHacker, from the Doom (2016) soundtrack, is bursting at the seams with heavy bass at the best of times, but cranking the Crusher up to maximum power near enough scrambled my brain.ANC is good for my liking some people might report that there is background noise and stuff but for me I don't hear anything when music is playing. Recently, some premium headphones have ditched articulating hinges, but it’s nice that the Crusher ANC 2 retains swiveling ear cups and hinges to make it more compact for music on the run. You might enjoy this sound signature more, but noise cancellation modes should ideally never influence the sound signature. We spend hundreds of hours designing, testing and perfecting every Skullcandy product in our Park City, Utah headquarters.

During the test, we also noticed that if you put the whole of your left palm across the left earpiece, the Crusher ANC occasionally acknowledges this with a loud feedback loop. The greatly exaggerated bass frequencies don’t quite block out Thundercat’s and Kevin Parker’s vocals, but the details don’t quite make it through. Bass vibrations at a concert can be fun when you feel them throughout your body, but feel uncomfortable when they're solely on your skull.
