My expectations were not met from the marketing of the book, however it is a wonderful easy read with an overview of women's health. Sometimes you may be asked to solve the CAPTCHA if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly. The Food Medic is one of the most comprehensive and reliable resources for evidence-based information on health and nutrition out there. I really enjoyed this book and liked that all of the references are available at the end if I want to have a deeper dive myself. This is a great addition to the bookshelf, and it works well alongside other texts on similar areas, helping to form an arsenal for women to better understand their bodies and strive for improved health at every stage of life.

She started 'The Food Medic' blog in 2012, as a medical student, in a bid to bridge the gap between conventional medical advice and the latest thoughts and developments in nutrition and other areas of lifestyle. It was good and had some new/useful info but on the whole I would have preferred a lot more information and less chat/opinion. Similarly, across the menstrual cycle, women have different calorie, nutrient needs, and food cravings due to fluctuations in sex hormones. I want to bridge the gap between mainstream medicine and nutrition and help you take full control of your fitness and wellbeing, so you will never have to diet again. It was also interesting to have access to her balanced views on topics I don’t know much about, such as HRT. If I’ve done my job, by the time you’ve finished reading this book, you will feel empowered by your body, you will feel ready to support yourself in ways you never have before and you will share everything you’ve learned with every woman in your life. She then got a position in London’s University Hospital and was working there when the pandemic started.I can’t wait to read it from cover to back, and will be recommending it to all my friends and family. Hazel Wallace is an empowering and informative book that explores the unique health and wellness considerations for women. Having seen a lot of negative reviews and comments on the excessive recipes ect but I have to disagree. I want to debunk the myths that are out there surrounding dieting and instead offer solid, evidence-based advice.
