This is a book that I am going to pass straight on to my seventeen year old son, not because of its insights into business (although it rings true on that account) but because of its insights into human nature and into the world 'out there' that he is going to have to negotiate in the coming years. How to Get Rich on Purpose is centered upon the idea that by conquering your mind and spiritual being, that you can climb the financial ladder to a higher life style. Then i found out that it was written by Felix Dennis who's net worth was around 750m in 2007 when he wrote it. While you may not necessarily want to be in a glamorous sector of any market, and they are often very crowded sectors, it helps to be in a growing one.

It is because of this and the wisdom found within Dennis’s book, that How to get Rich is so unique in the way it explains the methods and consequences of obtaining capital. The two books, while both aimed at obtaining affluence differ in their methodology to achieving such lofty goals. If you truly believe that your race, sex or upbringing can keep you from becoming rich, then you had best give up here. Conventional wisdom will then be revised by those around you and the next generation will be taught that what you did can always or often be done - only to discover, when they attempt it themselves, that in reality you missed every landmine by pure, dumb luck. So while I don't know how valuable this book will be to people who have no entrepreneurial experience, as someone who is two years into the grueling process of running a start-up, I found a lot of useful information in this book.Month after month I soldiered on, while “the new ploughed fields smelt dank as the grave; and I wished I were dead.

When this happens, you can spend a lot of money or waste a lot of your precious resources or relationships on a path that leads you to destruction, both for yourself and your wealth. While much of Dennis’s How to get Rich is also focused on the power of the mind, it is more so in relation to an individual’s confidence rather than in a spiritual sense. To get the most out of this book you have to believe in its author but it contains a few important contradictions of itself.Until one is committed, there is hesitancy; the chance to draw back; always ineffectiveness concerning all acts of initiative and creation. Stamina is crucial, as is a capacity to work so hard that your best friends mock you, your lovers despair and the rest of your acquaintances watch furtively from the sidelines, half in awe and half in contempt. But there lies the paradox of `How to Get Rich' in that the central advice has been ignored by its author consistently and by ignoring his own advice he has made most of his money. This book will give you the facts, as only somone who made 900 million dollars from nothing can, you are either a sheep or a shepherd. But licensing a magazine title is the ultimate surrender of equity -and the passage goes against much of what the author says about surrendering equity.

In terms of actionable advice on wealth creation, these are right up there with Naval Ravikant’s must-read How To Get Rich tweetstorm, along with his accompanying podcast episodes. And knowledge is power, at whatever age, whether earned by blood and tears or imbibed at a mother's breast. People like Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett, Naval Ravikant, and many other millionaires and billionaires.

And the less you care what the neighbors think, the more likely you are to take the plunge and exploit an opportunity.
