Using beeswax for care of leather goods is a great way to naturally prolong the life of your items without using nasty chemicals. Use a small soft piece of towel or cleaning rags and apply a small amount of beeswax leather conditioner to the surface. If necessary use water and a neutral pH soap to remove dirt and stains and allow to dry before treatment. I used some on my settee, but it didn’t seem to make any of the marks any less prominent unfortunately. It had to soften the leather; Dying can end up removing the natural oils in the leather so I needed a way to put them back.

Leather is not meant to be shiny, but it is nice when it catches the light in a pleasant way to look healthy. Ideal for full leather footwear that is regularly exposed to wet conditions, not suitable for dress footwear. When using beeswax to waterproof my old farm boots, I actually heat the boot before working the mixture in the shoe leather. It is water repellent and offers a long lasting shine without including of any harsh chemicals or animal products.

Once you’ve got rid of the surface dirt and the shoes are somewhat dry, you can apply the beeswax shoe polish.
