The drumkit is top-notch in build quality, very sturdy in any height it allows you to, and the pads work very well. You may get one that drops every other hit and breaks within a day, or you may get one that is spot-on perfect and lasts for years. We've previously done escape rooms, crazy golf, bowling, etc but this was by far the most entertaining, fun, original and enjoyable activity we have done. Percussionists are picky—even the ones playing on a plastic set in their living rooms in sync to "notes" displayed on their TVs.

OTOH, if I had a real drum module with more trigger inputs, it would certainly be possible to run cables directly from the pads and bypass the Band Hero controller entirely. However, it's worth pointing out that these incidents are pretty common after the launch of new gaming hardware, and may end up being a lot of fuss about nothing. Although it was made originally as an electric drum kit that was able to be connected to an xbox 360 console. The bass pedal is re-enforced with a metal plate on it and is much more durable than the original drum set's bass pedal, although it can still crack if you use it the wrong way. In Guitar Hero 5 and later games if a swell is dropped it can be played again by re-hitting the corresponding drum(s). If your red drum head is non-functional, or maybe your orange cymbal, or really any problem that the Activision support page doesn't address, this is the place to be. In terms of compatibility, if you get the Rock Band 2 drums on the PS2/PS3, they should work on the Guitar Hero games that support drums (Guitar Hero World Tour, Metallica, Smash Hits, Van Halen, GH5, Band Hero).

You won't be able to access the drum tutorials in those games (since they were designed for the five lane GH drums) but you can still practice and play all the songs with no problems.

It appeared to have some sort of adhesive that was locking it in the place, albeit the "wrong" place. As you can see, I'm leaning towards the Logitech kit, but it would be great to hear someone who owns one of these kits or has experience with routing MIDI from them on a Mac before I make the plunge. The bumper-type units I fabbed could be easily made via injection molding with a bit of a slit clip at either end to avoid fasteners and drilling. Not only are the materials used for the stand rickety, but the extension clamps can barely support the weight of the base, and the slightest amount of pressure could feasibly cause the drums to come crashing down onto your kneecaps.
