This has the main story, the Thanos Quest (which is very good and imperative to how Thanos gets the gauntlet) and a ton of Silver Surfer to start. I hadn't read anything with him yet, so his starring role--and particular psychological development--within this story was beyond intriguing. I mostly get my super hero knowledge from tv shows and movies, so there were a few heroes I didn't know about that I learned about here.

I just wish the crossover comics were placed in between the official infinity gauntlet comics instead of after. Some are wonderful, like the Hulk chapters, some are poor, like the Doc Strange bits, and some are too lengthy, see Silver Surfer. While I feel like the main series works if you read it alone, I recommend reading all of SS and the Warlock issues leading up to it. Thanos Quest could have been an awesome tale of Thanos taking down some of the biggest challengers in the universe, but instead, Thanos quickly breezes through the owners of the six gems with no problem and makes his gauntlet. I really liked this but I wish the crossover comics were placed in between the official infinity gauntlet comics instead of after. Of course, the Marvel universe isn't going to sit by and let Thanos wield that much power, so they unite to battle him.

I love the blending of cosmic and arcane powers and the interactions of a broad range of characters from the Marvel Universe. Still as enjoyable and over the top as I remember and its always fun when the cosmic entities in the Marvel Universe show up.I also liked reading more of Doctor Strange, a character that I have become increasingly interested in. Here he developed his ideas of God, death, and infinity, free of the restrictions of mainstream comics publishers' self-censorship arm, the Comics Code Authority. But even as the Mad Titan gathers the six Infinity Gems from across the galaxy, assembling them into the Infinity Gauntlet and gaining truly godlike powers, a host of heroes gather to oppose him – including the Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Doctor Strange and the Hulk! The team of Silver surfer and Drax were able to find Adam warlock, who was dead as a doornail and is resurrected to stop Thanos.

The last two are another big let down as the ending is wholly underwhelming and just the shittiest was they could have gone about it. Marvel, it seems to me, takes the whole "modern mythology" thing very literally--or, at least, more so than I've seen DC take it. Here with Starlin writing almost all of these issues Marvel did a great job of avoiding that problem. In the mid-1970s, Starlin contributed a cache of stories to the independently published science-fiction anthology Star Reach. If you intend to read the omnibus, I'd recommend reading the other serials when they occur in their proper time slots instead of all at the end like the omnibus was designed. When he realizes that nothing he can do will gain her love, he set out to become her equal by collecting the 6 Infinity gems and gaining control over reality.

The omnibus then gives us 26 tie in issues of various comics that take place during the Infinity Gauntlet. Doom, Galactus and the universe's cosmic powers aiding them, can Marvel's mightiest possibly prevail against Thanos the all-powerful? With a career dating back to the early 1970s, he is best known for "cosmic" tales and space opera; for revamping the Marvel Comics characters Captain Marvel and Adam Warlock; and for creating or co-creating the Marvel characters Thanos and Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu.But then the ending of Thanos winning by not being all-powerful, and how Adam Warlock would ultimately suffer because of it was a rather poignant theme. But even as the Mad Titan gathers the six Infinity Gems from across the galaxy, assembling them into the Infinity Gauntlet and gaining truly godlike powers, a host of heroes gather to oppose him! Strange (Personally, unnecesseryI think he is the real hero of this series) goes perfectly along with the main event. Death has released Thanos from her cold embrace, and he plans to repay her by murdering half the universe!
